About

THE THURSDAY NIGHT TAROT has been discussing ancient and universal wisdom since 1950. Started by Jason Lotterhand, a friend and student of Paul Foster Case, The Thursday Night Tarot was led by JasonÕs long time associate and editor, Arisa Victor, following JasonÕs retirement in 1992. In 1999, Arisa asked Tanya Joyce to lead the group.

About Tanya

Tanya JoyceÕs interest in spiritual life began early.  As an elementary school student, she and friends started an ÒAngelsÕ Club,Ó drawing pictures of angelic beings and Halloween spirits.  She and her friends also discussed differences in foods eaten by differing faiths.  In college, Tanya discovered the inclusiveness of Taoism.  After moving to San Francisco, she learned principles of the I Ching and, later, discovered tarot.

Prior to studying tarot and cabala with Jason Lotterhand and Arisa Victor, Tanya had a solid grounding in Asian and European metaphysics.  She stuied Medieval literature with scholar and novelist, John Gardner, and Old and Middle English with linguist-folklorist Niel K. Snortum.  Tanya presented papers on scholarly topics, including the making of Medieval books, and the teaching manual called ÒThe Cloud of Unknowing.Ó

She attended workshops with Basil Pennington, O.C.S.O., and Matthew Fox, O.P.

Her more recent explorations of Tibetan art and Mongolian spirituality add to the mix.
